John Wick AAA Game Teased, This is Not a Drill

Oh, and they teased a new Saw game while they were at it, too

Lionsgate Studios, the company behind properties such as The Hunger Games, Rambo and The Twilight Saga, has just teased that they're planning “AAA game opportunities” for two of their biggest franchises.

I’m not sure if there’s ever been a more straightforward opportunity for a film-to-video-game adaptation than the John Wick series.

Every film (and I mean this in a complimentary way) is just a 90-minute montage of a single dude battling through waves of other dudes. Slap a John Wick skin on Sifu, and you’re already 90 percent of the way there.

That’s why it’s odd that Lionsgate, which produces the John Wick films, hasn’t bothered to capitalise on this easy lay-up in the past.

Ok, well, technically that isn't true. At one point in time, a John Wick video game did exist, called John Wick Hex.

Released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC back in 2019 / 2020, John Wick Hex was a tactical role-playing game that served as a prequel to the events of the very first John Wick film.

I say it “was” a tactical role-playing game, because it was ultimately delisted from storefronts in July 2025. No exact reason was given for its delisting, but, in light of recent comments made by Lionsgate’s Chairman, Adam Fogelson, I think we finally know why.

As spotted by TweakTown, Lionsgate just held its Q2 2026 earnings call, and Fogelson announced that it is working on developing AAA video game adaptations of both the Saw franchise and the John Wick franchise.

“Our AAA game opportunities and other gaming opportunities around John Wick and Saw and some others that we'll be announcing soon, we're seeing increased interest and increased opportunity, and we remain on schedule,” Adam Fogelson revealed.

“So I think in totality, you are going to see a meaningfully additive financial opportunity coming in the coming years.”

This does kind of line up with John Wick Hex’s delisting, as it would appear that Lionsgate has taken control of the video game adaptation rights away from its original publishers, so that they can work on a John Wick game of their own.

Lionsgate do have a video game production company of its own, named Lionsgate Games, so it’s possible that they’ll be handling the production of these two games internally.

However, considering this was a sort of unofficial tease in an earnings call meeting, I highly doubt that either game has transitioned past the pre-production phase.

That’s my way of saying that we likely won’t hear anything in terms of an official announcement for a good while yet.
