It's beautiful when a film franchise finds itself in the hands of fans. When JJ Abrams gave Star Wars a go, for example, it was clear he was a fanboy just like us. We bet this is the case with Seth Rogen and the TNMT franchise. Ninja turtles with a chilled out attitude and a love for pizza seems very Rogen. If you know what we mean.

It was announced that he was at the producing helm of a new film back in 2020, with a screenplay from Brendan O'Brien and Jeff Rowe directing. Now, however, we have an official title, release date, and sharp looking logo.

Check out the this year's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, the acclaimed homage to 80s arcade.

The release date will be August 4th next year, as Rogen shared in a tweet yesterday, along with a picture of a cool billboard with the film title and logo.

The billboard reveals that the film's sub heading is Mutant Mayhem. The artwork is beautiful; sketches of the turtles surrounded by childlike graffiti, and the signature TNMT slime leaking out of the bottom and spreading onto the pavement (kudos to whoever made this, they went all out).

Rogen tweeted "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is in theaters one year from today!!!!!" So it seems he's pretty excited.

He's said in the past that the new film will hone in on the "teenage" part of the TNMT franchise, which might hint at an origin story. In an interview with Collider, he said "weirdly the 'Teenage' part of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was always the part that stuck out to me the most." As his first film, Superbad, was a teen movie, the teen genre must have a special place in his heart. We doubt the new movie will be anything like Superbad, but stranger things have happened.
