Scalpers are rife in the world of gaming, especially when it comes to collector’s editions. It’ll surprise no one that collector’s editions are, well, collectable. Most will sell out in seconds and swiftly end up on eBay. We saw it happen with God of War Ragnarök’s Jotnar Edition which retailed for £230, but could quickly be found on eBay for upwards of £550. Unsurprisingly, the same is now happening with The Last of Us Part I’s Firefly Edition.

Take a look at the launch trailer for The Last of Us Part I below.

As reported by GamesRadar, copies of The Firefly Edition have started popping up on eBay for $500. If you haven’t yet seen The Firefly Edition, it retails for $100 and includes a limited edition SteelBook case, The Last of Us: American Dreams #1 to #4 with new cover art, plus early in-game unlocks.

The Firefly Edition sold out shortly after it went up for sale, prompting Naughty Dog to do a second run. In fact, there’s a lot of international demand with Naughty Dog confirming that they’re working with European distribution partners to try and make the game more widely available.

In the meantime though, diehard fans will be forced to turn to scalpers. Some auctions are running into four-figures. Commenting on the situation, Reddit user Parzival_43 wrote, “I can't believe that a listing for over $1200 has 4 bidders” whilst jayrobande added, “What an easily avoidable mess.” Hopefully Naughty Dog stay true to their word and expand the sale of the edition soon.
