We’re in Rockstar Games jumpscare territory.
Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive, will hold its next earnings call on 21 May and it's widely believed that’ll be accompanied by an update on GTA VI.
Given that we’re only around six months away from the game’s November launch, fans are expecting pre-orders to open or a gameplay trailer to surface.
Thus far, GTA VI’s trailers have slightly preceded a Take-Two Interactive earnings call. After all, they give investors a lot to be excited about.

It’s for that reason that any day between now and 21 May could be the day that something happens.
Rockstar has a particular affinity for Tuesdays, for some reason, and both Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V received third trailers in late April so … be prepared.
Ahead of the earnings call, there’s also speculation regarding an upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 announcement.
While it’s not as exciting as anything pertaining to GTA VI, it’s believed that Red Dead Redemption 2 will soon hit a major milestone.
The rootin’ tootin’ title currently sits as the fourth best-selling video game of all-time behind Wii Sports in third, GTA V in second, and Tetris and Minecraft in joint first.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has shifted 82 million units, but with Wii Sports having ‘only’ shifted 82.9 million, it’s suspected that it’ll be overtaken by Rockstar Games’ 2018 release within Take-Two’s next earnings call.
While this is an exciting milestone for investors and those involved in the game, it might not immediately seem all that thrilling for players.
It most definitely is, however, as this bodes incredibly well for the franchise’s future.
It’s completely unknown what lies in Rockstar Games’ future beyond GTA VI.

The studio could hop straight into GTA VII, revisit that new medieval IP that surfaced a while ago, or they could return to Red Dead.
If they return to Red Dead, it’s possible that Rockstar Games may have to shift away from the ‘Redemption’ part.
Arthur and John Morgan’s story feels as if it's been told in its entirety.
Having a third part in the trilogy could take it too far forwards in time to when the west stopped being, well, wild.
Of course, Red Dead Revolver was the entry that kickstarted the franchise.
I could perhaps see Rockstar opting to do a spin-off based around one of Red Dead Redemption 2’s popular side characters like Sadie or Charles.
It’ll be interesting to see how GTA VI eventually ranks on this list of best-selling games.
The game will undoubtedly fly off the shelves like hot cakes, but it could still take quite a number of years to surpass the top five.
As it stands, the most recent best-selling release is Hogwarts Legacy which occupies the 19th spot with 40 million sales in just under three years.
