Xbox Game Pass users will be able to download a critically acclaimed horror game from 2021 next week.
As we await the upcoming release of Resident Evil Requiem next month, it’s a great time to start going back through Capcom’s large library of games in the franchise.
We don’t know yet how much of Requiem connects to the more recent games in the series, but with quite a few Resident Evil games now available on Xbox Game Pass, it’s a great time to start catching up.
Next week on 20 January, Resident Evil Village joins Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 on Xbox Game Pass, giving you a pretty good selection of Resi games to play ahead of Requiem’s launch.

Resident Evil Village is the latest game in the main series timeline, following on from the Winters’ story that began in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
The plot involves Resident Evil 7 protagonist Ethan Winters searching for his infant daughter, who has been taken by unknown forces to a mysterious village for an unclear purpose.

Along the way, he comes into conflict with the village’s strange leader, Mother Miranda, and her four different mutant lords.
Resident Evil Village Will Be On Xbox Game Pass From 20 January
Originally released in 2021, Resident Evil Village is the eighth game in the series, though it’s currently unclear how much of Resident Evil Requiem will tie into this particular game.
From what we’ve seen so far, the upcoming sequel features new characters, a new location, and a new story separate from the Winters’ duology. However, with it being a Resident Evil game, I’ll bet there are going to be some big callbacks to the events of Village.

The game was well-received at launch, receiving “generally favourable reviews” from Metacritic, with praise particularly aimed at the action-oriented gameplay, the creepy village setting, and the design of the game’s standout villain, Lady Dimitrescu.
Resident Evil Village joins Xbox Game Pass on 20 January, but there are also plenty of other games coming to the service this month.
So far, we’ve had Brews & Bastards, Little Nightmares: Enhanced Edition, Final Fantasy 1, Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, and Star Wars Outlaws come to Xbox Game Pass as brand new titles.

Meanwhile, My Little Pony: A Zephyr Heights Mystery, Mio: Memories in Orbit, and Nova Roma all come to Game Pass later this month, the latter two as Day 1 titles. My Little Pony GOTY, for sure?
Atomfall, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die, Rematch, and Warhammer 40K: Space Marine - Master Crafted Edition also come to Xbox Game Pass Premium this month, which were all previously only available on the Ultimate and PC tiers.
