Resident Evil players are requesting a highly-beloved feature to return in time for Requiem, and it seems like the perfect time for Capcom to bring it back.

The Resident Evil series often experiments with add-on game modes that sit alongside the main story.

The Mercenaries is one such example, an arcade-style mode that is all about racking up kills to beat a high score.

Capcom has also toyed around with PvP versus multiplayer modes, starting with Versus from Resident Evil 5 and continued with games like Resident Evil Resistance and Resident Evil Re:Verse.

However, one gameplay feature that hasn’t been in Resident Evil for a while is co-op, which made its first appearance in Resident Evil 5 but hasn’t been seen since 2015’s Revelations 2.

Fans feel like it’s about time that Capcom re-introduced co-op into the Resident Evil series, especially due to the overabundance of versus multiplayer modes in recent years.

With a Resident Evil showcase confirmed for early next year, fans expect this might be the good news they hope for.

Resident Evil Requiem Needs Co-Op

Many Resident Evil games launch with a bonus mode added on, and so fans hope for a co-op mode to be added with the release of Resident Evil Requiem to allow Leon and Grace to fight side-by-side.

“Raid Mode is underrated, because too many expected it to be more Mercenary mode,” wrote one fan on the Resident Evil Reddit page.

“They would absolutely nail it just releasing a full game size Raid Mode like Revelations. Just up it to 3-4 players coop.”

“I severely miss coop RE,” writes another. “It was one of the best things about the series. I never wanted it gone. Coop games feel like a dying breed nowadays.”

“Co-op doesn't work with horror imo,” someone else wrote. “You cannot maintain an atmosphere of tension and fear if your homeboy is there to crack jokes every time something spooky happens.”

At the moment, Resident Evil Requiem hasn’t got any bonus game modes confirmed for it yet. But given Capcom’s love for including these in its releases, I imagine we’ll get something.

Hopefully we’ll find out more in the Resident Evil showcase next year. With it coming so close to the release of Resident Evil Requiem, we could hope for some more information regarding the bonus modes set to appear in the game. Also, could we get a demo please, Capcom?
