Resident Evil officially returns in surprise new release

I'm personally surprised at how this is even possible

A new Resident Evil release just dropped in a rather unexpected place; the Apple App store.

Thank you in advance to Comicbook's Tyler Fischer for the original source!

Capcom has been on a bit of a winning streak with the Resident Evil franchise as of late.

After a bit of a rough period in the series' history that spanned from 2010 to 2015 (yeah I'm looking at you, Resident Evil 6), the publisher started dishing out back-to-back heaters.

Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4 Remake - all certified bangers that, somehow, all released within a seven-year time period.

But there was a bit of a blip in between all of this; Resident Evil 3’s remake.

It’s certainly not a bad game. I’d even go as far as to say it’s actually pretty good. But it’s definitely the weakest out of the modern Resident Evil releases, and a lot of people were disappointed with it due to the high expectations set by the Resident Evil 2 remake.

Well get ready to experience that slight disappointment again, but this time on mobile!

Yup, that’s right; Capcom just released an iPhone/iPad port of Resident Evil 3 Remake on the Apple App store.

Now it’s not actually surprising that Capcom has decided to port a modern RE game to mobile, as they’ve already done this before with their iPhone ports of Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 2’s remake and Resident Evil 4’s remake. The truly surprising is that they bothered doing this at all for Resident Evil 3’s remake, considering its reception.

Also as an aside, I watched someone play through the first 30 minutes of the iPhone port and I still don’t know how they’re pulling this off. Obviously it’s a visually downgraded port, but it still looks way better than it should.

I wonder if the wizards at Capcom could pull off an iPhone port of Monster Hunter Wilds? Then I really would have absolutely zero free time.
