Resident Evil Leak Confirms RE9 Isn't The Next Game We're Getting

Didn't see this one coming

Resident Evil: Requiem isn’t the only Resident Evil game on the horizon, as the latest leaks suggest we’re getting something else first.

The Resident Evil series is still going strong as the next game looks fantastic, bringing players back to the old-school survival horror that made Capcom’s series the icon it is today.

While fans are counting down the days till Resident Evil: Requiem’s 2026 release date the latest leaks suggest we’re getting something else before it drops.

It’s been teased that the Nintendo Switch 2 is getting seven “sevens” added to its library over the next few months, meaning games that either have seven in the title or are the seventh instalment in their respective series. For example Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.

As fans have pondered what other games are being brought to the system new leaks suggest Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will be one such title.

In talks around the impending Nintendo Direct X user Attack Da Backlog said “Capcom defo showing a horror - you all know which,” and was quote tweeted by Nash Weedle, who replied “All I Can Say Is That If You Get This, Stay Away!”

Fans quickly picked up the reference to the seventh Resident Evil game, as Ethan’s infected girlfriend Mia says the same thing during its story.

Obviously take it with a pinch of salt as until either the Nintendo Direct happens or Capcom confirms it itself we can’t know for sure. That said with the Nintendo Switch 2 being far more powerful than the Nintendo Switch, and capable of running games like Star Wars Outlaws, I’d imagine Resident Evil 7: Biohazard would be an easy game to port over.

Hopefully this means other Resident Evil titles will make their way onto the console too, including the GameCube games via Nintendo Switch Online.
