The next Resident Evil game will probably be the biggest yet, rounding off the Winter trilogy with a bang.

It’s been a busy year for Capcom, as the company has released several top-tier titles over the last few months, the biggest arguably being the spectacular Resident Evil 4 remake.

Check out the latest DLC for Resident Evil 4 (2023) below.

Capcom reportedly isn’t done yet though, as it plans to release another title before the end of its fiscal year, and is already working on Resident Evil 9.

Not much is known about the title, apart from it’ll likely continue the story of Resident Evil 8 and its DLC, with Ethan Winters' daughter Rose.

Now a leaker by the name of Dusk Golem has shared some juicy inside details on the ninth instalment of the franchise, promising it’s going to be one of the biggest games the series has ever seen.

Dusk Golem’s findings were shared on Reddit by Talesofus, and point to Resident Evil 9 being a “closing chapter to the current ‘arc’ of the series.”

They apparently went on to say it’ll have the “biggest budget & longest development time of any RE game to date” and is considered by Capcom to be a chance to “move onto new story arcs and focuses” and “take the series in new directions.” They rounded off the leaks by saying “RE9 is [sort of] both a closing [and] beginning chapter for things in Capcom's eyes.”

Fans were optimistic that the leak was credible, believing a final story that completes Rose’s character arc and gives Chris a chance to redeem himself for Ethan’s fate is exactly where the series would be expected to go.

“The Village DLC felt like a good bookend to the Winters family story. RE9 could have Rose again as the protagonist or go with another familiar face for a final blowout story. Excited for RE9 regardless," said one fan.

“Uhhh... Shadows of Rose kinda did that, I thought. Or are they talking about a game where Rose and Chris Redfield team up to kick bioterrorist ass? (That sounds AWESOME, mind you, so no complaints on my end if this is true)," added another.

There’s currently no word on when Resident Evil 9 is expected to launch, though an announcement is likely to pop up sometime next year.
