Fans of Red Dead Redemption and The Last of Us can add yet another game to their wish lists courtesy of Michael Janisch’s Hauntsville.

Releasing sometime between April and June 2024, Hauntsville is a “Western horror shooter with survival elements”. Whether you play alone or with friends, you will be tasked with trying to survive in the cursed mountains against a horde of paranormal entities. Search for supplies, build shelter and navigate through a world heavily influenced by its weather and daily cycle and be aware that ammunition is in short supply.

With echoes of Red Dead Redemption in its Western elements and hints of The Last of Us in its battle against monstrous enemies with limited supplies, this survival horror is set to rival that of The Forest. Set in a world where an occult priest’s ritual has caused supernatural creatures to swarm a remote mountain village, one lone survivor is tasked with bringing hope back to its people. However, as you can probably guess, it is not going to be easy. Luckily, playing with friends will allow you to share supplies and also use as a meat shield if the opportunity arises.

As with most survival horror games, you will be up against various monstrous enemies including some that only come out at night. However, you can build a defensive structure in order to keep you safe but make sure you get enough materials from the world around you. If you choose to go head-to-head with the entities, you can choose between a selection of firearms or a trusty hatchet or pick axe.

When you are not fighting for your life, you can explore the beautiful scenery and regions including open fields, creeks and woodlands which may be home to some creatures who don’t want to murder you.

Hauntsville will be released sometime in 2024 on Steam. No specific release date has been given yet, but the game can be wishlisted.
