With everyone's attention firmly focused on the tantalisingly near arrival of GTA 6, it's little wonder that Rockstar's premier Old West simulator has taken a bit of a back seat. Interestingly, new comments from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick show that, at the very least, some things are happening, but could a trilogy be on the way?
Red Dead Redemption 2 was a startling achievement. Following the story of Arthur Morgan and serving as a prequel to the original, it brought everything fans love about the series to the fore, adding immense depth and beautiful scenery to create one of the defining games of the generation.
While the game has received updates and patches, and Red Dead Online remains popular, there has been little in the way of major news surrounding big expansions for the game or a tentative sequel.
In a conversation with CNBC, Zelnick was asked how many of the Rockstar team was actively working on GTA 6. He responded by saying, "Well Rockstar does have a lot of other things going on, but of course this is the primary focus."

Now it may just be some high-level copium on our part but that does mean people are working on other games or in other areas. Sure, a lot of those could be dedicating themselves to Red Dead Online and GTA 5's multiplayer, but it's nice to sit and think that maybe they are in the early stages of production for Red Dead Redemption 3.
That game would likely be forced to take us further back in time as players, as the proverbial Wild West is well on its way out by the time of the events in Red Dead Redemption 1. Even if it is on the way, it's unlikely we hear anything about it until GTA 6 is out in the wild and settled as an online entity.
