Red Dead Redemption 3 Fate Is Leaving Players Concerned

We’re getting it, right?

Red Dead Redemption fans are torn over the fate of the highly anticipated third entry, but should there really be cause for concern?

For many, Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the best video games of all time, and to be honest, I’d find it difficult to argue against such a statement, because it’s one of my favourite games ever. Perhaps even better than the game released in 2010, starring John Marston.

“America, 1899. Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde Gang are outlaws on the run,” reads the synopsis of Red Dead Redemption 2.

“With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal, and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.”

When will Red Dead Redemption 3 be released?

At the time of writing, Rockstar Games hasn't announced Red Dead Redemption 3; we can only assume that it will arrive at some point. However, with GTA VI set to arrive in May next year, Rockstar Games currently has its hands full.

If I were to make a guess, with Grand Theft Auto V originally releasing in 2013 and Red Dead Redemption 2 releasing in 2018, there could be a gap of five years between GTA VI and Red Dead Redemption 3.

If that were to be the case, I suppose Red Dead Redemption 3 could arrive as late as 2031. But please, do not quote me on that; that is pure guesswork on my part.

What does Reddit think?

“After seeing these images of GTA VI, I can't wait to see what RDR3 is going to look like. What are your most wished for features, quality of life improvements or big gameplay changes in the next instalment?” asked MrsCastillo12.

“I don’t think we’ll get Red Dead Redemption 3, to be honest, " replied ListenJabroni.

“I think RDR3 is a no-brainer. RDR2 sold over 75 million (so far) copies. The question for RDR3 is what the story will be, and likely, I would say 2032 at the earliest,” added OMEGACY.

“Just the western time frame and theme. It can be a different title and different location with different characters, but as long as it's a Rockstar cowboy game, I'm in,” said Save-Air.

“Even if RDR3 was made, I doubt it would come out in our lifetimes,” joked PerspectiveRough5594. “Rockstar is going to focus on GTA VI Online for years.”

If or when Rockstar Games announces Red Dead Redemption 3, we’ll be sure to update you right away. As for Grand Theft Auto VI, that’s scheduled to be released on 26 May 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
