Even though there have been half a million people waffling about Rockstar Games potentially pushing back Grand Theft Auto VI’s late 2025 release date, some folks still think we’ll be getting the next Red Dead Redemption game sometime in the next couple of years. But are they right?
Over on the r/reddeadredemption2 subreddit, one user seems pretty confident that Red Dead Redemption 3 will release sometime around “2026-2027”... which one of us should break it to them?
“If we take into the fact that RDR2 writing more or less right after the release of RDR and same with GTA V with GTA IV, it's a fair assessment to say we should expect our third instalment of the series by around 2026-2027 at the earliest,” they stated.

“Depending on the engine, realism, etc maybe 2028… We'll probably go back to a one man army like John in RDR or just a much smaller group like two to three main characters to not copy either games as far as 'your' characters, but somewhere in the middle.”
So, what do the commenters think of all this? Well, they probably think exactly the same thing as you do.
GTA VI is up next for Rockstar.
“2028 is optimistic. It’s not even in production yet,” commented user SeaBreakfast325. “Meanwhile GTA 6 has been since 2014… we will be lucky to get it in 2034.”

“It would be minimum five years between GTA 6 and RDR3. Minimum,” replied user KingGuy420.
“And that's only if the rumours about R* working on a new IP aren't true. If they are working on a new IP, RDR3 will be 2035... at least. Probably more like 2038.”
Yeah. Let’s be real. We’re not getting Red Dead Redemption 3 until 2030 at the very, very earliest.
And that’s even if Take-Two and Rockstar Games want to make another Red Dead Redemption game.

Given that RDR2 didn’t get any DLC or expansions because Take-Two deemed it more profitable to just churn out new GTA V online content, we might see them focus entirely on Grand Theft Auto for the foreseeable future.
