Red Dead Redemption 2's creepiest secret will mess you up

Maybe keep the lights on for this

Red Dead Redemption 2 is bursting with secrets and hidden details - it’s a highlight from Rockstar Games, who consistently cram their games with stuff to find.

You definitely couldn’t see all of what Red Dead Redemption 2 has to offer in one playthrough, and many of the greatest moments are hidden away, only to be discovered via word of mouth, or guides.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is filled with lovely hidden details

One of the creepiest secrets is tucked away near Annesburg, and it will unsettle even the hardiest of players.

On Reddit, one fan lays out a nice little guide to finding the area - “On the map, if you look at the BU in ANNESBURG, and trace a line directly north until you hit the river, that's the forested area you need to be in.”

Once you arrive, you’ll find yourself in the Whispering Woods, and if you venture there under a full moon, you might get more than you bargained for.

“It's eerie as s**t,” notes one player.

Upon hearing this, many players vowed to replay the game, or head back in to explore further, not knowing this point of interest existed.

“I’ve never encountered this. Well… perfect time to start a new playthrough I guess!” notes jeffgolenski.

When discussing the area, fans were hesitant to spoil what you’ll find there, but one player did explain, “Yeah I stumbled upon that place with a headset on, that was some s**t.”

Further into the Reddit thread, it’s explained that to trigger certain events in the Woods, you need to meet requirements first.

“I think you may need to watch the picture show of the story? I went to the area knowing about it, but it never happened. I then saw it playing at the picture show booth in Valentine, went back, and the whispers happen almost every time I return, no matter the time of day,” explained droy90, helpfully.

Time to replay Red Dead Redemption 2, I guess.
