Red Dead Redemption 2 is a stupidly massive game with a mind-boggling level of detail. The ground turns to sludge when it rains. A fine mist rises through the air on cold mornings. Horse balls sway gently in the spring breeze.

It's no surprise, then, that a game so huge and so detailed would be full of things players might miss - even after dozens of hours spent exploring. And so it is that one lucky player was able to bask in the wonderment of a truly gorgeous - and rare - event in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Before we go on, take a look at some of the rootinest tootinest Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below!

As spotted by Reddit user MidgettMac, it turns out that it's entirely possible to come across a meteor shower out in Red Dead Redemption 2's open world - and it's as beautiful as you'd expect.

While I've certainly seen the falling star while out exploring at night in the game, I've never seen so many of them. It's an astonishing moment, and one that MidgettMac no doubt relished discovering for themselves.

Check it out below!

Judging by the responses to the post on Reddit, it seems there are plenty of Red Dead Redemption 2 players who had no idea such a thing was possible. Maybe most of us don't travel at night in the game because it's too darn spooky?

Whatever the case, this is just another wonderful example of how the biggest and best games are still able to surprise and delight us, even years later.
