We all knew before its launch back in 2018 that Red Dead Redemption 2 was never going to come close to the incredible sales success of Grand Theft Auto V, but the celebrated Rockstar Western has still managed to hit some unbelievable heights over the last few years.

In its first few weeks on sale Red Dead Redemption 2 smashed several records, becoming one of the fastest selling entertainment releases of all time and shifting an incredible 17 million copies in just two weeks.

While its sales have, understandably, been much steadier since its outstanding opening month, Rockstar's open-world epic has continued to steadily climb. And now it's hit an incredible milestone, becoming the tenth best-selling video game in history.

As confirmed in Take-Two Interactive's latest earnings call, Red Dead Redemption 2 has now shifted over 43 million copies worldwide. Rockstar insider Ben T has quite rightly pointed out on Twitter that this puts it just above the Nintendo version of Tetris, nudging the popular puzzle game out of tenth place.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is officially now the 10th best selling game title of all time after today’s sale results, now beating the Nintendo version of Tetris.

If Red Dead Redemption 2 continues at its current pace, it could very well end up overtaking Wii Fit (43.8 million). Unfortunately, it still has a long old way to go before it gets anywhere near the top three. The EA Mobile version of Tetris (100 million), GTA V (160 million) and Minecraft (238 million) are almost certain to remain untouchable. At least until GTA VI comes out, anyway.
