The PlayStation 6 is understandably coming up in conversation a lot more, as the current generation of hardware begins to age and struggle with the graphical capabilities of modern games.
What exactly that console will look like is very much up for debate though, with much of the discussion centred on just how premium Sony want to go with their next offering.
Well, it now seems like they are going to stay pretty consistent in their relative offering, with the next console set to be priced at around $600, if new information from a reliable insider is to be believed.
A well known hardware insider and expert, who goes by KeplerL2, has already leaked several pieces of information on upcoming hardware for both Sony and Xbox, and he took to X (formerly Twitter) to make another prediction in response to a player asking how much the PlayStation would be compared to the next Xbox.

Not only did he then confirm his thoughts on the price for the PS6, he also made a bold prediction for the next major Xbox hardware release, and it's not good news if you're a thrifty fan of Microsoft's products.
Xbox Vs PlayStation - Which Wins?

According to the same leaker, the next Xbox will retail for a pretty staggering $1200, making it pretty comfortably the most expensive home console of all time.

The reason for that is likely to be the company's drive towards greater integration with the PC market, and this price potentially means that they will be providing a super premium gaming PC-esque experience, inside the traditional package of a living room console.
Not everyone is convinced though, with many questioning exactly why that would be the case. In a post sharing the news on Twitter, many shared their thoughts on the potential price points, and it's safe to say that there's a lot of disagreement.
"There's no way that is true. The consoles themselves always lose money. The Xbox is already way behind. That price point would never survive reality," one comment read.
"This new generation Xbox better give us like 180 FPS for it being that much! Definitely buying a PS6 as well," another added.

Whatever the prices for the next set of consoles does end up being, it might not necessarily be the worst thing if they go for different levels of performance, rather than directly competing. If we continue down the road of greater integration and less exclusivity, it could become quite a healthy market for consumers.
