The next era of gaming is gradually being revealed and that means that the next five years are already looking pretty stacked when it comes to major releases.
That is why, over recent days, we have found out more about the future of the Dead Island franchise with Dead Island 3 set to launch in 2028.
The franchise first began with Dead Island back in 2011 with the action RPG centered around the challenge of surviving a zombie-infested open-world.
Developed by Techland, Dead Island 2 followed in 2023 from developers Dambuster Studios but the series has also found success with various spin-offs throughout the years.

With an emphasis on melee combat, the Dead Island franchise is a blood-soaked extravaganza and our very own Ewan Moore enjoyed Dead Island 2 back in 2023.
“Dead Island 2 is a really solid game with some impressive gore, fun jokes, and sickeningly crunchy combat,” his review read.
“It’s exactly the game many of you will have been waiting for, and is quite clearly one of the most technically impressive zombie killing romps on the market.”
Now it seems as though Dead Island 3 is finally in development and not only that, but a release window of 2028 has been revealed.
According to a financial report shared on Twitter, UK developer Dambuster Studios has employed 194 developers for work on Dead Island 3 and as a result, the game will launch over the next few years.

Dead Island 3 Could Be a PS6 Release
“Parts of the game are now in early production with feature, character, world and story design moving at pace,” the report shared.
Back in September, Dambuster shared an image featuring some Dead Island-esque art with the caption “When there’s no more room in Hell-a…
“And the next outbreak is already brewing”.
So it is perhaps no surprise that this announcement was imminent but it is still exciting to see that Dead Island 3 has that release window which could see it launch on the PlayStation 6.
“It's been 14 years since Dead Island first splattered onto the scene, stranding players in the blood-soaked paradise of Banoi,” the post continued.
“Since then, the zompocalypse has crawled from tropical shores to the sun-drenched chaos of HELL-A in Dead Island 2, where over 20 million Slayers have left nothing but carnage behind.
“This isn’t the final cut though. Dambuster Studios are already carving out what comes next. For now, the details stay under wraps, the outbreak is far from over…”
So there you have it, one of the PlayStation 6’s first launches could be the next instalment in the Dead Island franchise and I, for one, am excited to see how it plays out.
