At long last, we've finally got a second trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet - and the games are looking like incredible new additions to the series.

As well as a bigger look at the lush new (and still unnamed) region, we've also got confirmation that we’ll be able to adventure in groups of four players in a brand-new co-op mode, which is incredibly exciting. The release date for the titles has also been confirmed - they’ll be releasing worldwide on 18 November this year.

Enough from me, check out the new trailer right here.

There’s a lot to unpack here, so let’s get started. For the first time in the series, each version of the game will be getting a different professor - in Scarlet, players will encounter Professor Sada, whereas in Violet, you’ll meet Professor Turo instead. According to an official press release, both of them are carrying out “research into lore passed down in the region”.

Forget about the human characters though, we’re all here for the new Pokémon, right? Of course you are, and we have plenty to go at. First up, we’ve been introduced to the ninth generation’s Pikachu clone. This electric rodent is called Pawmi, and as well as having those signature electric sacs on its cheeks, it also has electricity-discharging organs on its chunky forepaws. Maybe this is just me, but it really looks like a baby version of Alolan Raichu crossed with a Wigglytuff.

The Grass/Normal type Smoliv is, as the name would suggest, very smol, and attacks by shooting oil out of its head. Meanwhile, the GAMINGbible team’s new favourite Pokémon (solely for its name) is Lechonk, a Normal type hog which uses its sense of smell to seek out and eat the richest berries and fragrant wild grasses it can find. We love you, Lechonk.

Finally, we also have the two box legendaries: Koraidon and Miraidon. No details on these two lizard-like fellas have been released yet, aside from their names, but they’re looking very… different? One appears to have a tyre protruding from its chest, while the other has literal jet engines attached to its lower body. We can only hope that they’re going to become fancy replacements for the bike.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on 18 November.
