New information was announced for Pokémon Champions during the Pokémon Day 30th Anniversary Presents on February 27, 2026. The game has been given a release window and price point.
Players were treated to several interesting announcements during the Pokémon Presents livestream this year. Pokopia received a new trailer, FireRed & LeafGreen dropped for Nintendo Switch, and Gen 10 was finally confirmed with Pokémon Winds & Waves.
In addition to this, a new mobile app and Nintendo Switch title that was teased during 2026 has gotten some extra attention. Pokémon Champions will be released in April of 2026, and it will be fairly accessible to most players.
Pokémon Champions Will Be Free to Download on Launch
Pokémon Champions will be releasing for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, and will be Pokémon Home compatible, allowing fans to transfer companions from previous games into the battle stadium-style mobile game at any time. It will also be free to download.
According to a social media post shared by CentroLeaks, Pokémon Champions will allegedly have a large number of microtransactions.

The leak account states, “There will be an (optional) paid subscription you can buy to increase storage space, increase number of teams you can have, premium missions and additional battle songs. You will also be able to purchase a premium Battle Pass to unlock items like Mega Stones and certain Pokémon faster without grinding.”
Despite this, the core gameplay will be accessible to anyone who can download the app. This is good news for those who aren’t looking to drop $60 or more on another game directly after Pokopia’s release on March 5, 2026.
Currently, the gameplay for Pokémon Champions looks nostalgic, with early gameplay trailers showing a turn-based battle system instead of the Legends: Z-A or Pokémon Unite real-time matches.
However, it isn’t known if the turn-based battles are the only option, or if there will be different modes or stadium styles.
With release just around the corner, it won’t be long before Pokémon Champions players will be battling fans from around the world, and all at a free entry cost.
