Sony and Naughty Dog have released an impressive new patch for The Last Of Us Remastered, Six years after its original PlayStation 4 launch. Patch 1.11 for the critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic adventure and reluctant dad simulator has massively decreased loading times across almost the entire game, with some reporting as much as a 70 percent increase in loading speeds.
As spotted by speedrunner Anthony Calabrese, the new patch makes it so that loading into the game from the main menu takes a mere 14 seconds. Before the update, that would take roughly two minutes. I mean... wow, right? If I'm being honest, I kind of like having those two minutes of near silence to stare at a black screen and emotionally prepare myself, but whatever. This is still great.
It's not entirely what's going on here, especially since the patch notes don't mention anything about improved loading times. There've been reports of several other games getting updates recently, including Until Dawn, God Of War, and Final Fantasy XV. Interestingly, all of these games will be joining The Last Of Us Remastered as part of the PlayStation Plus Collection, 18 free games that will be available for PS Plus subscribers to download and play on the PS5 at launch.

It's probably no coincidence that The Last Of Us Remastered has seen a drastic improvement in loading times just in time for its appearance on PS5. While we don't know what other upgrades these classics could feature while running on the next-gen console, less looking a loading screens is definitely a welcome enhancement, especially for those of who might want to try and play through Ellie Joel's adventure again on the hardest difficulty. Having to load back in after getting your face bitten off by a Clicker was no joke.
