PlayStation Plus subscriber loses Bloodborne progress one trophy away from Platinum

A Bloodborne player attempting to Platinum the game has seemingly lost all of their progress after temporarily losing PlayStation Plus.

Renowned FromSoftware title, Bloodborne, is available to download and play for PlayStation Plus users on the Extra and Premium tiers, and is essentially a PlayStation exclusive Dark Souls game with an eldritch-terror aesthetic.

Take a look at Bloodborne’s trailer below

The soulslike game is arguably one of the best FromSoftware titles to date, despite steep competition from Elden Ring, which is why many players have dedicated hours of their time to beat the game 100%, as well as obtain all of its PlayStation trophies.

That’s exactly what GlennWantsCream planned to do, working their way through the game until just one trophy remained, before catastrophe struck, with their saved data somehow disappearing…

The Reddit user said “I've just redownloaded bloodborne and noticed all of my saves are gone... (just needed pthumerian queen for platinum) Here are some points I can add...I've always had ps plus when playing bloodborne. My subscription was off for about a week but no bloodborne was played during this time. I repurchased ps plus before downloading bloodborne. I did accidentally open the game before the download was 100% complete. Any solutions please?”

No one can deny it’s absolutely brutal when a save file disappears, but it’s even worse when nearly 100% progress has been made on it, like this Fallout 4 player who’s also having to start from scratch.

Even weirder though is no one is really sure what’s happened, or whether the saved file can be restored. Reddit users in the comments suggested their own fixes but it’s unclear whether GlennWantsCream has got their save data back yet.

“Did you check sync status??”

“If you downloaded rather than streamed it is not a PS+ issue. The save would be stored locally on your console. So you either deleted the save, it became corrupt.”

“this happened to me as well, I don't know why/how but it was automatically fixed after playing for a couple of hours in a new savefile. My guess is that there is some kind of update/sync that happens while the game is open.”

Glitch or not, what an ill-fated way to end a 100% playthrough. FromSoftware games are already difficult to finish the first time around, without having to replay the game from the beginning again.
