PlayStation Plus is the gift that keeps on giving, well, as long as you’re a subscriber, at least.

Ever since Sony’s subscription service was revised in 2022 offering three tiers varying in value and content, we’ve played some fun new games at launch. Perhaps the pick of the bunch is the endlessly purrrfect cat action adventure, Stray.

Check out the Sea of Stars announcement trailer below!

However, next month PS Plus subscribers will have the opportunity to play another new game at launch which is already being described as a ‘massive win’ for subscribers and a ‘must play. The game in question is the charming JRPG, Sea of Stars.

Developed by Sabotage Studio, the same team that brought us the fantastic Ninja Gaiden/Shinobi-inspired The Messenger, Sea of Stars looks to take us back to the classic turned-based JRPGs of yesteryear such as Final Fantasy or perhaps even akin to the more modern Octopath Traveler 2.

“Sea of Stars is a turn-based RPG inspired by the classics. It tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer,” reads the synopsis.

PS Plus subscribers on Reddit have been sharing their excitement for the upcoming JRPG coming to PlayStation next month. “If they show turn-based RPGs half the love they showed platforming actioners such as The Messenger, then this is a must-play,” said AlpsStranger. “This is a massive win. I love day-one indies, keep them coming Sony,” added a joyous ShaneTVZ.

Sea of Stars will be released on PC and PlayStation on 29 August 2023. What’s more, there are also free demos on the PS and Steam Store to download and play right now. Oh, it's also launching on Xbox Game Pass too.
