PlayStation Plus subscribers react to June free game line-up: 'massive win’

One of my fave games of 2024 is included

PlayStation Plus subscribers have praised one particular June 2025 game as a “massive win”, and I agree.

When Sony announces the latest PlayStation Plus offerings, whether it’s for PS Plus Essential, Extra or Premium, it’s not always well received.

We don’t always get bangers such as Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, God of War Ragnarök or Blue Prince. Sometimes we get stinkers like Fast & Furious: Spy Racers, Foamstars and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Earlier this week, Sony dropped a surprise six free bonus games for PlayStation Plus Extra, instead of the typical three. One of those games is the 2024 remake of Alone in the Dark.

Sadly, despite its developer Pieces Interactive closing down not long after the launch of the remake, Alone in the Dark is still accessible, hence its PlayStation Plus inclusion.

In my review of Alone in the Dark, I recommended it for fans of old-school survival horror, and despite some technical issues, it had a certain charm. It’s a shame that we probably won't ever see a sequel to this remake.

Fans on Reddit have been praising the inclusion of Alone in the Dark on PlayStation Plus Extra (it’s also included with the Premium tier).

Alone in the Dark is a massive win for me. I've been wanting to play that one for a while,” said ShaneTVZ.

“I was planning on buying Alone in the Dark, so I am more than grateful,” replied Money_Inspection9826.

“Oh, Alone in the Dark, I wanted to get this! Great news, great news,” exclaimed Queasy-Big5523.

“Oh hell yeah, I’ve been waiting specifically for Alone in the Dark to drop into PS Plus. I knew my patience would pay off,” added PopindaChopz98.

Alone in the Dark will be available on PlayStation Plus starting Tuesday 3 June 2025. Alone in the Dark is also available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
