PlayStation Plus Essential users are roasting January’s new batch of free monthly games, with one of the options having previously appeared on the service.

In case you missed the news, Sony has announced the three new games that are coming to PlayStation Plus Essential in January 2026.

These three titles replace the five that were available on the service in December (though you still have until 5 January to claim them), and will be available until 2 February.

The three games are Need For Speed Unbound, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, and Core Keeper, which will remain on the service throughout the month of January.

PlayStation Plus Users Aren't Happy About Need For Speed Unbound

However, it seems that some users aren’t happy with the games on offer here, especially as one of the games had previously been available on PlayStation Plus Extra.

As posted on the PlayStation Reddit page, one user wrote: “Another year, another NFS game.”

“Same one, they took it away and now we can have it for free! … again,” wrote another comment underneath the original.

“I hate when they do that! P****s me off,” wrote another user. “Like I got it free already, give me another plz n thank you.”

Need For Speed Unbound was added to PlayStation Plus Extra in February 2024, and was subsequently taken off the service last August.

While some users seem to be unhappy with Need For Speed Unbound, the other two games in the collection seem to be getting a bit more positive buzz, with many users recommending for players to check them out.

“Played Epic Mickey on the Wii and was toying with getting it for PS5 so happy to see it on Plus,” writes one user.

“I'm glad I waited on buying Epic Mickey, this is a good month for me with just that,” added another.

“Guys, PLEASE give Core Keeper a shot. It's genuinely such a fun game,” another wrote.

Need For Speed Unbound, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, and Core Keeper are available from Tuesday, 6 January until 2 February, at which point they’ll be taken off PlayStation Plus Essential and replaced with February’s batch of games.

On the other hand, you still have a few more days to grab Lego Horizon Adventures, Killing Floor 3, The Outlast Trials, Synduality Echo of Ada and Neon White which were available as part of December’s monthly games. These titles will expire on 5 January.
