With just a few short weeks to go until the PlayStation 5 launches, PlayStation Plus users are receiving emails offering to cut the cost of renewing subscriptions to the online service by an impressive 25%.

Obviously this comes with some caveats - most notably that you need to be near the end of your subscription this month or before the end of the year. As reported by PlayStation Universe, if you fit that bill you'll receive an email from Sony about a 25% discount code.

"Fancy a 25% discount on your next 3 or 12 months of PlayStation Plus?," the email reads. "It'll be time to pay your subscription fee soon, so this exclusive discount code to redeem at PlayStation Store could be coming at just the right moment. Choose a 3-month or 12-month PS Plus subscription and enter your code at the checkout - the extra time will be added straight onto your current subscription. Don't delay, your code expires on 11:59 PM on November 9 and you can only use it once."

This might be a bit of a kick in the teeth for those of you who either just renewed or are nowhere near doing so, of course, but the timing is great if you do meet the criteria. With the PlayStation 5 launching in the UK November 19th (or a little earlier if reports are to be believed), it's the perfect time to renew with PlayStation Plus.

While I've never been a huge fan of the service, I'm incredibly into the idea of the PlayStation Plus Collection launching on the next-gen console. Through this new bonus, PS Plus subscribers with a PS5 will be able to download and play a ton of generation-defining titles like God Of War and The Last Of Us Remastered.

Most of these classics have been souped-up for the PS5 too, boasting improved resolutions, faster loading times, and smoother framerates. I know most of us will be busy with new games like Demon's Souls and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but it's good to know that we can do something about our current-gen backlogs on the console too.
