Gorgeous Black And Red PlayStation 5 Spotted In Leaked Sony Marketing

Gorgeous Black And Red PlayStation 5 Spotted In Leaked Sony Marketing

Now this is more my style.

It looks like Sony might be planning to launch the PlayStation 5 with more than one colour scheme, which is great news for those of us who aren't entirely taken with the standard model shown during the console's reveal event last month.

Originally posted on ResetEra (thanks, PushSquare), a leaked Sony marketing pamphlet seems to show a particularly sexy black and red PlayStation 5. It's a massive improvement on the basic white, if you ask me, but check it out for yourself below and be the judge.

The image was shared by a ResetEra user who claims it's a promotional image that's been sent to various retailers and their employees, presumably so staff can get a good look at what it is they're selling ahead of time.

While the image certainly looks official, there's every chance someone out there could have decided to put this together for a laugh. I personally can't imagine why anyone would want to fake something like this for fun, but it takes all sorts.

I'd love it to be the real deal, with the last few weeks having kind of proved that it's not that hard to come up with fake custom PlayStation 5 designs. We've seen a number of gorgeous fan-made custom builds from fans, including a beautiful all-black edition and designs inspired by Spider-Man, God Of War, and Horizon Forbidden West.

With that said, we do know for a fact that special editions are on the way, so this black and red number could easily be one of them. Last month, PlayStation's vice-president of UX design, Matt MacLaurin, took to LinkedIn to tease some "beautiful" special edition consoles.

After speaking a little bit about the next-gen machine's completely overhauled UI, he added that we "can count on even more beautiful (and hopefully radical) special editions" beyond the standard white edition.

But if you can't wait to get hold of a custom PS5, why not design your own? If you head over to the dbrand site you can put together your very own next-gen Sony console with custom wraps. There's a cool little tool that lets you choose the colour and material for the sides, base, middle, and controller, and you can visualise the whole thing before you order.

If Sony doesn't release a black model at launch (which I think is unlikely), I reckon I'll just cover mine with wraps. It'll be almost as good. Almost.
