PlayStation 6, Xbox Leak 'Confirms' Which Next-Gen Console is More Powerful

Which horse are you backing?

A new leak suggests the power difference between the next Xbox and the PlayStation 6 could see Microsoft leading the race.

In the current generation, the Xbox Series X hardware edges out the PlayStation 5 a little, but as we all know, it’s how that power is used that makes all the difference.

Regardless, the power of each console is going to be something watched by eager fans, hoping to see their favourite brand take the lead.

According to KeplarL2, a known and trusted leaker, Xbox will once again put out the most powerful console in the next generation.

In their post on NeoGAF, they simplify the next generation by comparing each console to a PC graphics card, saying, “PS6 looks around an 9070 XT and Xbox around an [RTX] 5080.”

If we want to break this down into the most simple terms, the Xbox will be around 20% more powerful than the PlayStation 6, if these reports turn out to be accurate.

Of course, as we always say, take this with a pinch of salt for now.

Last year, Sarah Bond of Xbox noted that Microsoft is planning the “largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation.”

If these words aren’t just hyperbole, we could see a drastic jump, and one that could eclipse Sony in the next generation.

Whether that power is harnessed in the games, we’ll have to wait and see, recent releases show just how good PlayStation teams are in getting the best out of the console.

And, some players would argue that the next power jump will be incremental, likely focusing more on framerate than fidelity.

We’re sure that in the coming year we’ll get more information from both companies, and the hardware fiends will pick everything apart.

For now, at least, it seems Xbox is eyeing a big jump in power.
