In the last year alone, PlayStation has hiked up its console prices in anticipation for the biggest game release of all time.
The famed consoles have shot up in price from around $400 to $650, with GTA 6 looming and the unnamed ninth-gen PlayStation on the cards.
But if you're now gearing up for GTA 6 by searching for a new console, and are put off by the $1,000 PS6 value, you might have just hit a vein of luck.
Sony has now released a handful of consoles with a vastly reduced $400 price, but you will have to move quickly.
Given that you're likely going to need to set aside $100 for GTA 6 unless you wait six weeks to see what Santa brings, there's a big market for refurbished PlayStation 5 consoles.

Now, a limited range of refurbished PS5 Slim models has been released, with the only snag being that a tiny portion of the SSD is reserved, which takes away from the overall 825GB storage capacity.
The pre-owned, revived consoles get the Sony seal of approval, and even come with a one-year warranty again, ensuring that you get a console that will pass the test of time.
Only around five of the refurbished PS5 Slim models are currently listed on PlayStation Direct, at the time of writing.

Given that this sum rivals the type of prices that you will see on eBay and Facebook Marketplace, and the performance is almost as good as a brand-new model, it's a no-brainer to snap these up.
Certified PlayStation price reductions come few and far between, as Sony has continued to increase its price with every new feature.
Now would be a very opportune moment to look at PlayStation, too, as the upcoming State of Play showcase has begun teasing some exciting new games for the Sony platform.
It might even be a good time to consider swapping allegiances in the Xbox and PlayStation battle, with those on Microsoft's green team having never experienced the joys of exclusive titles like God of War and The Last of Us.
And then, of course, you'll have GTA 6 by the end of the year, and you won't want to miss out on that by being stuck on a PS4.
