Despite what some may say, it pays to be an Xbox user; surprise access to a free open-world RPG is proof of that.

Xbox might get a lot of heat from gamers, especially in regard to its decisions surrounding exclusives and the future of console gaming. Yet, when it comes to bonuses, it often excels.

Not only have fans praised Xbox Game Pass freebies, but they’re also delighted by the latest open beta test for Monster Hunter Wilds.

Capcom has announced two opportunities, the first of which is already underway, and thus, time is limited. The second round will begin from 13 February until 16. Cancel those Valentine’s Day plans, am I right?

For those who’ve already participated in the previous beta test, don’t be fooled into thinking much of the same will be available here.

Here's the latest trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds

As per XboxEra, those braving this test will be able to fight Arkveld, a terrifying beast not to be underestimated.

What is more, “Gypceros, the base camp’s training area, and additional online features, such as private lobbies and online single-player mode” are included as well.

This, alongside the latest showcase of the upcoming title, has fans counting down the days until its launch on 28 February.

To better prepare for its release, Capcom has provided ‘Benchmark’, essentially allowing you to check how well your PC will handle the game.

It’s incredibly thorough and is an ideal tool to use if you intend to play via Steam; you can find all the details here.

This is one massive game, and is easily one of 2025’s most anticipated releases, therefore we suspect many future updates/patches.

Should you want to gain free access to the game, albeit for a limited amount of time, register your interest to join in with this beta test.
