The Microsoft Rewards programme has been a lifesaver since it was first introduced back in 2016, allowing members to earn points to spend on Xbox-related goodies.

As a way to help its members “track progress toward anything they’ve got their eye on”, the Microsoft Rewards scheme can see users earn points on games, game add-ons, movies, and TV shows at the Microsoft Store.

Unlike PlayStation Stars which only rewards points to members who purchase or play select games, Microsoft Rewards offers many different ways to rack up its currency.

This includes making searches and browsing via Bing, playing games on any Xbox console, shopping on the Microsoft Store and regularly checking out the Rewards dashboard which features daily quizzes, trivia, and more.

Put simply, earning points is simple and as a result, some Xbox players have been able to afford the Xbox Game Pass every month without having to spend a penny.

So much so, that one user over on r/MicrosoftRewards has not had to purchase the Xbox Game Pass for the past seven years thanks to making use of the scheme.

TheVittler took to the subreddit to say, “It’s been a good seven years. One day I’ll have to pay for Game Pass.”

Not only that, but to celebrate being a Microsoft Rewards member for the past seven years, the user was rewarded 500 points which can only mean another free month of Xbox Game Pass is on the way.

It seems as though TheVittler is not alone.

“I last paid $1.07 in 2019, mine expires in four days,” user NickyNichols commented.

“Heard. I’m down to my last three months. Hopefully I get enough reward points by then to get three more,” another user added.

With Xbox Game Pass offering a free selection of games each month, as well as day one releases, being a member is a must.

However, with the subscription fee adding up each year, taking advantage of the Microsoft Rewards programme will help greatly.
