When it comes to next-generation consoles, the Xbox remains something of an enigma compared to its PlayStation counterpart.
However, a recent report by Xbox hardware VP Jason Ronald has finally given us some insight into what we can expect from the next-gen Xbox console and it seems as though Microsoft is set to push the boat out when it comes to the power it will be capable of.
Yesterday saw the Xbox Podcast release a brand-new episode, consisting of well over 30-minutes of information about the upcoming, and currently unnamed, Xbox console.
It was here that we received some of the official specs and quite simply, this upcoming console will really give the PlayStation 6 a run for its money.

Previously, Xbox president Sarah Bond has confirmed that the next-gen Xbox console will include a new AI-centric partnership with AMD and Ronald seemingly continued on from this confirmation.
According to him, the next Xbox hardware will feature new AMD silicon with neural processing units (NPUs) built in.
“Last month, we announced a multi-year strategic partnership that spans multiple products across console, cloud, PC, and handheld,” he shared.
“We're deeply focused on hardware and silicon innovation and how we can push the boundaries beyond the current generation of devices.”

This is due to Xbox’s aim to “create a unified platform” which will allow players to play across multiple devices in a variety of different ways.
“It's really about ensuring gameplay is not locked to an individual device or an individual storefront, and it's really just the recognition of players having built their libraries across a whole set of different services,” he continued.
“Together with AMD, we're designing dedicated silicon and hardware to enable the next generation of gaming experiences.”
He explains that the team is interested in using dedicated silicon to “enable the next generation of AI capabilities” as well as focusing on rendering technologies which will “bring a new level of fidelity to the quality of the games”.

Overall, it seems as though the next-gen Xbox console will not only improve gameplay but also focus on bringing all of its different types of hardware together to make its library a whole lot more accessible.
It is unclear when the next Xbox console will be released but it seems as though Microsoft has big plans for it and so the wait will most certainly be worth it.
