April has almost drawn to a close, but it’s set to deliver us yet another first-party Xbox launch before our calendars switch over to May.

If you enjoyed last year’s delightful Keeper, you’re going to want to pick up Kiln from Double Fine Productions.

Set to launch on 23 April on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, Kiln describes itself as a “multiplayer, pottery party brawler”.

Is it an unconventional premise? Sure. Does it look like heaps of fun? You know it.

To celebrate the game’s impending launch, Xbox users can now make use of a new free gift in the form of a dynamic background.

Xbox is constantly refreshing its dynamic background offerings, so it’s perhaps no real surprise that Kiln has now been represented.

While this freebie won’t change your life, it’s a nice way to freshen up the aesthetics of your home page, all whilst showing your support for this quirky first-party title.

Utilising Kiln’s key art, the background sees the playable pots gently rock back and forth as if they’re seconds away from brawling.

There are also some nice smoke effects from a furnace in the background as clouds billow across the night sky.

Within the game itself, which will cost just £15.99 / $19.99 at launch, players will create a pot, with the shape and size of your pot affecting your character’s play style and combat attributes.

You’ll then join up with others as you attempt to break through enemy lines, shatter your foes, and secure a victorious win.

Kiln is actually launching as a Day One freebie on Xbox Game Pass; it’ll be available on the Ultimate and PC tiers.

Ultimate is, as I’m sure you’re aware, the priciest tier, but a major price cut was announced yesterday, albeit with the caveat that one AAA series will no longer feature on Day One.

Kiln’s is not the only new background available on Xbox Series X/S consoles.

A new dynamic background has also been added for all of the Overwatch fans out there.

Blizzard Entertainment

It features a red and blue ‘versus’ design with plenty of your favourite characters going head to head, including the likes of Jetpack Cat, Vendetta, and Mizuki.

It’s not as dynamic as the Kiln option in terms of movement, but I’m sure it’ll appease the Overwatch fans who simply want to display their love for this all-timer game.

How To Change Your Background On Xbox Series X/S Consoles

Changing your background is very simple, but there are likely gamers out there who have always settled for the default background option.

If that’s you, follow these simple instructions to see what else is on offer.

Click on ‘Settings’ at the top of your Xbox’s home screen. Navigate to ‘General’ followed by ‘Personalisation’ and then ‘My Background’.

Here, you should see ‘Dynamic Backgrounds’. You can then freely browse, or select ‘Games’ or ‘Featured’ to filter what’s available to you.
