Xbox Live is currently down for many gamers across the world, meaning that online multiplayer is currently inaccessible for many.
As great as modern gaming can be, especially when it comes to connecting with gamers just about anywhere in the world and the ease of buying and downloading the latest releases in an instant, it’s not without its flaws.
With the likes of PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and Steam so reliant on online connectivity, if the servers go down for any reason, the community can go into a meltdown.
After you may have booked a day off work to play the latest major AAA multiplayer release, but if the servers on your platform are down, you’ve potentially wasted your booked holiday.

Reports of Xbox Live being down began making the social media rounds within the last hour, and responding to concerns, the official Xbox Support Twitter account informed gamers of the outage.
“We are aware that some users are encountering errors when attempting to log onto the Xbox network,” it tweeted. “Thank you for your patience while our engineers investigate this issue. For updates, please follow along here or at Xbox Support.”

At this time, it’s anyone's guess. It could be an hour, several hours or worst case scenario, several days. However, the latter scenario is very unlikely, as Microsoft are typically quick to resolve these sorts of issues, and I very much doubt this particular issue will be any exception.
“Great work, Xbox/Microsoft. Even checked to see if the issue was coming from your side, to which it stated there were none. So silly muggins here has reset their Xbox and is now worried I’ve lost all my content. Fantastic!” replied MisfitsBoy.
“You lot are always having problems. You really need to pull your finger out, especially for the Xbox 360 Games on Demand servers, a lot of content is either unavailable or gives an error code while downloading/attempting to download,” exclaimed DazWallace123.
“Give me a free 50$ Xbox gift card for my struggles,” declared j5hbb7r9p2, who may or may not be joking.
“Many gamers are complaining about the outage. They just need to relax. It's not as if this happens every day,” suggested Daniebswart. “Go outside, talk to the family, they might even be interesting people, you will never know unless you go and talk to them.”
The short answer to that question is no. Unless Xbox Live is down for days or weeks on end, and subscribers are throwing money down the proverbial drain waiting for the service that they pay for to go back online, Microsoft won't be offering any compensation. At best, you might get your Xbox Game Pass subscription extended for 24 hours.
Hopefully, the Xbox servers will be back up and running in no time.
