Xbox gamers on PC have a new free game to occupy their time with. It’s also very helpful for boosting your gamerscore and completing challenges for in-store credit.
Over the past couple of months, the Xbox Store has been surprisingly fruitful when it comes to freebies and we don’t mean Xbox Game Pass.
While it’s also nice to see new games added to the Xbox subscription service, especially after the price of membership was cut, they’re not the same as a game that’s yours to keep at no cost.
One of the latest titles was added earlier this week and PC users are sure to get a kick out of it.
The latest game you can add to your Xbox library is called Microsoft Jewel, a title from Xbox Game Studios that will feel familiar if you’ve played just about any other sliding puzzle game under the sun.

Puzzlers like this are still quite popular, and we’ll admit they’re solid if your goal is to simply kill some time.
The game’s description reads: “Microsoft Jewel is the ultimate Match-3 game! Make matches to fill the meter & collect Bonus Jewels.
“Place gems from your collection anywhere on the board to create longer matches, trigger chain reactions, create Power Jewels, & clear all jewels from the board in Challenge Mode.”
Whether you’re going for a high score or want to log on for daily challenges, it’s a decent title to add to your library, but its true power is what comes included within.
You don’t need Xbox Game Pass to play Microsoft Jewel but it helps as it means you won’t have your gameplay interrupted by ads.
That’s great because you’ll need to focus if you want to unlock all of the achievements.
Not only are these achievements good for bolstering your gamerscore, which is tied to your Xbox profile, but it’ll also net you plenty of points every day if you space them out a bit.
The Xbox Rewards Hub gives you points for playing Xbox games but it also gives you points for unlocking achievements tied to challenges. On days when you need to grab an achievement to earn you can load up Microsoft Jewel, get an easy unlock and build your balance.
Then once you’ve got enough, you can exchange those points for in-store credit vouchers.
You can do this on an Xbox Series X/S or PC but if you have both platforms, you can actually earn double the points, so if you can find an easy game to unlock achievements on for your console, you’ll quickly build up your balance.
Microsoft Jewel isn’t bad for a freebie, and while it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, it’s nice that you can exploit it for things you actually want, those sweet, sweet reward points.
