If you subscribe to Xbox Game Pass and you’re a fan of horror, then you’ll want to check out one of the most chilling games to release this year.

Despite the sudden price hike to Xbox Game Pass and Microsoft preventing mass stacking, Xbox Game Pass still offers value for money, compared to the cost of a single-month subscription and one AAA new release. Xbox Game Pass is also a great place to try games that we might not ordinarily play, such as the video game that is the subject of this article, Still Wakes the Deep.

Check out the Still Wakes the Deep trailer below!

Developed by The Chinese Room, if you’re familiar with the likes of Dear Esther, and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, then you’ll know that you’re in for a gorgeous, narrative driven adventure. However, perhaps more so than previous games from the developer and the fact that it’s inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, Still Wakes the Deep is scarier than previous games from the studio.

“1975. Disaster strikes the Beira D oil rig off the coast of Scotland. Navigate the collapsing rig to save your crew from an otherworldly horror on the edge of all logic and reality,” reads the description of Still Wakes the Deep which is powered by Unreal Engine 5.

On Steam, Still Wakes the Deep has been greeted with “Very Positive” user reviews with comments such as, “It's probably one of the best narrative horror stories I've played in many years,” and, “If you love intense games with a great story, I couldn't recommend this enough.”

So, if you’re on the hunt for a chilling story included in the ever-expanding Xbox Game Pass library that will keep you immersed for the next five or so hours, then look no further than Still Wakes the Deep.

Still Wakes the Deep is out now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
