A brand-new system update is now available for Xbox Insiders with these changes likely to roll out to all users within the coming months.
If you’re not already an Xbox Insider, it’s very simple to sign up with the benefit being that you can test out all of the console’s newest features.
You simply need to download the Xbox Insider Hub on either an Xbox One, Series X/S, or PC.
The latest offering for insiders is a system update that introduces arguably one of the PlayStation 5’s best features.
Without inciting console wars, PlayStation’s achievement system has always outshone Xbox’s equivalent.

Recent improvements made to Xbox’s achievements have closed the distance between the two offerings, but there’s nothing quite like getting a Platinum Trophy on PlayStation.
Platinum Trophies are typically achieved by unlocking every other trophy for a game.
On PlayStation, however, you also get a profile trophy that reflects how many trophies your account has accrued within its lifespan.
The highest honour is a Platinum Trophy for your account which sits next to your username if you surpass Level 999.
Otherwise, there are different Bronze, Silver, and Gold tiers.
Xbox has now introduced a similar feature in the form of Gamerscore Badges which “reflect your lifetime Gamerscore” and will be displayed on your profile.
In a blog post on the Xbox Wire, the various new Gamerscore Badges designs were displayed.

The higher your Gamerscore, the more epic and ornate your Gamescore Badge grows, with 10,000,000 points unlocking the final badge.
That badge remains hidden for now, enticing players to attempt to unlock it.
“Players will now earn new tiered badges that reflect your lifetime Gamerscore, giving you a fresh way to showcase your journey on Xbox,” the post read.
“These badges appear on your profile and in the Guide, making it easy to see your achievement history at a glance.
“As your total Gamerscore grows, your badge evolves with you, reflecting every milestone along the way.”
It’s yet another step in the right direction for Xbox. These badges aren’t revolutionary, but it’s nice to be rewarded for your gaming achievements.
Elsewhere, the new system update introduces the console’s new boot-up screen teased by CEO Asha Sharma last week.
Finally, there are changes to navigating your Game Library. New filters have been added, allowing gamers to separate games of their own from games that have been shared and games they no longer have access to.
That should make finding your next play a touch easier.
Again, it’s not clear when these changes will roll out to users not enrolled in the Xbox Insider programme, but there’s absolutely nothing stopping you from enrolling and joining in on the fun now.
We should learn more about the future of Xbox at next month’s Xbox Showcase which is being held on 7 June; we’ll be bringing you the event’s headlining news.
