Xbox gamers surprised with free store credit to celebrate anniversary

Celebrating in style

Xbox faces a lot of flack from its fandom on a daily basis, yet sometimes it’s incredibly generous in what it offers.

One gamer has learnt this after receiving free store credit to mark a memorable anniversary.

User TheVittler shared on r/MicrosoftRewards that they’d received 500 free points to celebrate seven years using Rewards.

Alongside a screenshot of the notification, the OP said, “It’s been a good seven years. One day I’ll have to pay for Game Pass.”

They didn’t further elaborate on how they’ve avoided paying for the subscription for so long, though we’re impressed regardless.

Others have managed to avoid continuously forking out for the service as well, revealing that they’ve “stacked” their membership for the foreseeable future.

“I hear you on that one, but I have about two and a half years stacked, and only lose one or two months a year. So I’m good for a while,” BurnItFromOrbit replied.

Back to the matter at hand; the free store credit is a win as far as many are concerned. However, one individual feels that 500 points is a small amount to mark such a big milestone.

“Only 500 points?! Lol,” -D-A-M-I-E-N- said. “And for seven years?!? That's crazy. I know MS is cheap, but damn.”

While the OP agreed that 500 points “doesn’t go far”, they still seem quite pleased by this nice surprise.

Granted, maybe they’d have liked to be treated to an even bigger bonus, but let’s not look a gift horse in the mouth eh?

What is more, when compared with PlayStation Stars, Microsoft’s rewards system typically provides a more diverse array of opportunities to claim those points. Not that we wish to stir the pot here, we’re just simply making an observation.

In addition to the various ways you can claim points, there’s also a wide selection of free games, as demonstrated by these 10 titles currently available.

If you’ve got a big Xbox anniversary coming up, you might just find yourself lavished with free store credit soon.
