Xbox quietly adds new feature that lets you earn more free store credit

Xbox has quietly added a new feature that lets you earn more free store credit as the Rewards app prepares to close.

With a legion of Xbox players regularly using the Microsoft Rewards scheme to earn free points to exchange for free store credit, the latter has recently incorporated a new feature which will see points rack up even faster.

Microsoft Rewards allows Xbox players to take part in a series of challenges both in-game and on the official website which will reward them with points. The points can then be exchanged for free store credit which can be used to “purchase” games for free.

With points to be earned every day, users are also able to earn “streaks”. By completing daily challenges which consist of polls, quizzes and trivia, points are distributed and by taking part every day, you will soon find yourself on a streak.

“For completing the daily set each day, you’ll also get a bonus every so often known as a ‘streak’”, reads the official Q&A forum. It goes on, "The bonus streaks range from 45 points for 3 days, and 150 points for every 10 days after 54 days. It is best to finish your daily set each day to ensure you can lock in a points bonus towards redeeming gift cards.”

However, many users found that accidentally missing a day would cancel their streak and therefore stop them from being able to earn more points. To combat this, Microsoft Rewards are introducing a new “freeze” feature which was reported on r/Microsoft Rewards.

Taken from a Tweet from Microsoft Bing Dev, it reads: “This is flighting now so a small % of users have access - you can toggle [the freeze] on and off and if you miss a day, you won’t lose your streak. With the streak protection feature, you can miss up to 14 days a year without losing your streak”.

Although this feature is still in a beta period, users are still happy to know that their hard-earned streaks are somewhat protected.
