Halo Season 2 trailer disappoints fans, says Master Chief should always wear a helmet

Recently Paramount shared the first trailer for the second season of its live-action Halo show, and while it looks to be an improvement over the first there’s still a glaring issue fans desperately want corrected.

When the first season kicked off it told an emotion-heavy story with some frankly amazing action segments. The parts where Master Chief and other spartans were taking the fight to the Covenant were some of the best parts of the show, with things going awry when the plot started to slow down.

Ignoring the “Master Cheeks” part where Chief gets down and dirty with an enemy spy, while Cortana watches, one of the biggest issues fans had was how the legendary sci-fi hero kept removing his helmet.

This is a big no-no, and while 343 Industries teased a face reveal in its first Halo game, Halo 4, most fans said “no thank you,” meaning we’ll likely never have a face reveal in any of the future games, hopefully.

It seems Paramount hasn’t learnt its lesson though. In the new season Master Chief, played by Pablo Schreiber, repeatedly removes the helmet and even has it removed on some of the marketing material, much to fan dismay.

Their discontent was shared on the Halo subreddit through a post by Ronald___McDonald, who asked: “How did nobody at the marketing department realise that this was a bad thing?”

Other fans found it “confusing,” as many believe Chief’s popularity as a character stems from his helmet, and how it’s a defining feature that makes him recognisable to people who’ve never even played a Halo game before.

A few even speculated the actor has a “clause in his contract that his face has to be shown whenever Chief is used in promotions.”

Some were a little more diplomatic, saying Chief with a face isn’t “bad marketing, it's marketing for a bad show.”

Since the second season has likely wrapped filming by now, it seems we’re stuck with another admission into the adventures of Jimmy Rings, though maybe we’ll get a good Halo show one day, and that helmet better be superglued on when we do.
