Dr DisRespect downplays Twitch ban allegations as 'inappropriate jokes'

Not a good look

Twitch streamer and YouTuber Dr DisRespect, real name Guy Beahm, has returned to his platforms, denying any wrongdoing after allegations were made against him earlier this year.

A few months ago Dr DisRespect was accused of allegedly texting a minor inappropriately.

The allegations quickly led to a swift and decisive Twitch ban, and a huge portion of his fanbase turning on the streamer. One fan who gained fame for cosplaying the streamer threw out their costume.

After a long hiatus, Dr DisRespect is back, teasing his return months in advance and hinting that he had information that would clear him of any wrongdoing.

In his most recent stream, he addressed the allegations directly and stated that they weren’t true and highly exaggerated.

The allegations were first brought up by a former Twitch staff member Cody Conners, whom the streamer addressed directly.

“You didn't have any firsthand knowledge about my dispute with Twitch. You said that I got banned from Twitch because I was sexting a minor through Whispers messages? Do you even know what the legal definition of sexting is? I do. And yeah, I used Twitch's Whispers, but I wasn't sexting anyone," he said.

Dr DisRespect also indicated that he’d purposefully used words like “minor” in his since-deleted X statement in order to catch out journalists reporting on the allegations.

Rounding off his response, he downplayed the situation as nothing more than “allegations that Twitch made without even a legal analysis of whether the Whisper messages were illegal", adding that the situation centred around "inappropriate jokes taken out of context".

When asked if he’ll apologise to his viewers or those affected by his actions, he shrugged it off by proclaiming, "What are we? In second grade?"

For the foreseeable future, Dr DisRespect will remain on the platform, as legally, no wrongdoing has been done.

Ethically though, the streamer will forever live with those allegations looming over his head, and even now his former viewers are attempting to have a permanent ban placed on his future content.
