What do you get when you cross Total War with The Witcher? A bloody good game that’s what.

A conversion mod for Medieval 2 Total War gives the game a fresh new perspective by adding characters and armies from The Witcher series.

CD Projekt Red has obviously had no hand in this, as the developer is hard at work on The Witcher 4, as well as in the early planning stages for a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.

That being said, this mod is a good way to pass the time until we hear official news about Geralt, or Ciri’s next adventure, especially if you’re a fan of real-time strategy games.

The mod is called The Witcher: Total War and it can be downloaded for PCs from moddb. It apparently takes inspiration from the CD Projekt Red games, the books, and the Netflix live-action series.

Featuring “recognisable characters, factions and regions from all these mediums” this Total War mod will let you pit some of the Witcher’s most powerful armies against each other, like the Lyrians and Rivians.

You can even send the Red Baron onto the battlefield, who Witcher 3 fans will recognise as that game’s best quest.

Worth noting that this is purely an aesthetic mod too so it hasn’t changed the game you know and love, fear not.

It’s pretty good fun, and an interesting concept if CD Projekt Red is looking to make something fresh after The Witcher 4 releases.

The developer is also apparently working on a remake of the first Witcher game, which was only released for the PC, meaning its debut on Xbox and PlayStation consoles should hopefully be the best version.
