The Elder Scrolls Online is getting another free expansion, a seemingly endless horde mode set in the library of Hermaeus Mora.

Now, the game will be receiving its 40th update and will add a new mode called Endless Archive, as well as a few other gameplay improvements.

Players will explore the infinite and ever-changing Hermaeus Mora library and encounter randomised hordes of enemies in a challenging PvE mode that’ll test the limits and endurance of even the most powerful players.

Endless Archive is structured like a rogue-like, meaning no two runs are the same, so players can expect a completely different challenge compared to other players. Better yet, it’s free-to-play, meaning anybody can test their mettle and their luck in the cursed library.

If you can make it through to the end, you’ll be rewarded with some cool new items, including some special cosmetics for your character, a new mount, and a cute new pet.

Update 40 doesn’t just include the Endless Archive though, it also includes several gameplay changes that will surely appease fans. One new addition is the Grand Master Crafting Stations, which allow you to distil the number of attuned crafting stations in your humble abodes, thus clearing some space for additional furnishings or items.

Also being added is a new Group Finder tool, which lets players search for friends that prefer a similar playstyle to their own, as well as find players with or without microphones for voice chats.

The Endless Archive update will be released for The Elder Scrolls Online on 30 October for PC and Mac users. The update will then arrive for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 players on 14 November.
