Tekken 8 might not be considered a wholesome game as far as reviews go, however, it’s proving to be exactly that in light of some touching yet difficult news.

When Tekken 8 launched, it quickly amassed positive reviews, with GAMINGbible’s Richard Lee Breslin praising it for packing a punch. As a result, numerous players flocked to the game to test out their skills.

One such enthused gamer unfortunately passed away shortly after the game launched, leaving their family understandably devastated by the sudden loss. The brother of the deceased sought help and comfort from fellow gamers, chiefly interested in discovering whether they could save their brother’s AI ghost so that they could still play against their "‘brother’ from time to time”.

Say what you will about Reddit, but it has a wonderful knack for helping those in need through their darkest times; this story is proof of that. After the touching story made its way to key creatives behind Tekken 8, it was revealed that if the OP downloaded and saved their brother’s ghost “locally”, they’d still be able to “play against it anytime”, even if it was lost from the server.

The OP’s appreciation was palpable. “Thank you to anyone who reads this, and thank you to Mr Harada and the whole Tekken team for giving me and my brother one last great month of joy together.” They continued, “The last thing I saw him doing the night before was playing this game. I'm happy he got to play it before he had to go…”

Although it’s incredibly sad to see someone going through such grief, it’s also heartwarming to see how quickly the gaming community rallies in support. By reaching out and talking about the situation, the OP was able to share a touching story that resonates so deeply even the game’s director reached out to offer help.
