If you’re after a charming new RPG for fans of The Legend of Zelda and Studio Ghibli animated movies, then look no further than this indie delight.
Even when the first Legend of Zelda game was released for the NES in 1986, while it might not be so easy to believe today, it pushed the boundaries of what was expected for an RPG of its time, not only from a storytelling perspective but also visuals and gameplay.

As for Studio Ghibli, which graced us with its first animated movie in the mid-80s with Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind in 1984, these beautiful movies have kept fans entertained for decades with their emotional stories and stunning animation.
So if we can play a new RPG for free that blends the best of The Legend of Zelda and Studio Ghibli, you can bet it will gain our attention and that game is Tales of Seikyu, developed by the indie team at ACE Entertainment.
“Settle into your magical new life in the world of Yokai! Harness your powers of transformation to manage your farm and explore the world, grow bonds with extraordinary islanders, and uncover the secrets of Seikyu,” reads the description of the game on Steam. “Adventure, magic and romance await in this enchanting farming life-sim.”
Tales of Seikyu initially began life as a Kickstarter campaign in early 2024, so it’s nice to see that this game has finally come to fruition allowing potential customers to get an early taste of the game ahead of its launch.
At the time of writing, there is no official release date yet but Tales of Seikyu is expected to be released this year via Steam. Hopefully, if this charming indie proves to be a success, we might see a console launch one day.
