Resident Evil fans may want to keep an eye on this new game that has been heavily inspired by the classic horror franchise.

Wicked Seed from Dead Right Games is an indie game that combines the survival horror roots of a franchise like Resident Evil or Parasite Eve with the RPG elements of a game like Fallout.

In it, you explore various abandoned buildings, sewers, forests, and underground tunnels to find clues that will help you solve the mystery at the centre of Wicked Seed’s protagonist, a young woman named Ella.

Enemies take the form of different mutated creatures, from giant spiders to deformed fish, where you must move, block, parry, and dodge their attacks in order to fight them. By learning to read the enemy’s patterns, you’ll be able to triumph during combat.

As a game heavily inspired by Resident Evil, the game has many homages and features to the classic survival horror games, including different outfits based on characters created by Capcom.

Wicked Seed Now Has A Free Demo To Check Out

In case you wanted to try the game out for yourself, Dead Right Games has brought back the demo for everyone to download and play.

The demo should give you a taste of what to expect from the full experience, featuring around the first hour of the game. Any progress you make in the demo will be transferred to the full game, should you decide to later pick it up.

As it stands, Wicked Seed currently has 91% positive reviews on Steam, indicating a “Very Positive” rating on the store page.

“If you want a Parasite Eve-style ARPG game and you can ignore the rough edges, Wicked Seed is the game for you,” reads one review with 18 hours of playtime.

“This is an indie that punches above its weight. Looking at the screen shots, you might expect a mediocre game, but the story and the gameplay are quite engaging,” reads another review.

“No checklists, stupid long talent trees, bloat, nonsense, in game shop, or microtransactions. Nails core game elements. Feels like an actual video game. Good stuff,” reads another review from a player with 13 hours logged.

If you’d like to check out Wicked Seed now, you can download the free demo from Steam.

Be sure to check it fits your minimum or recommended system requirements before installing, too.
