A new RPG is on the way that seems to be a concoction of Valheim, Resident Evil and Far Cry, which almost sounds too good to be true.
It’s fair to say that when it comes to surprise hits in the MMORPG genre, Valheim is somewhere at the top of the list.
When Valheim initially launched as an early access title on Steam, it garnered an impressive concurrent player number of well over half a million. Valheim enticed players with its Norse world, crafting and survival elements, as well as deadly foes.
Sure, according to SteamDB, that concurrent number is nowhere near that today, but it still generates a steady 15k to 20k, and that’s just on the PC platform, and not taking into account Xbox.

As for Far Cry, it’s one of Ubisoft’s most popular properties with its open-world shenanigans and high-octane combat. Then we have Resident Evil from Capcom, full of horrific creatures that want to chomp on your face. Lovely.
So if a combination of Valheim, Far Cry and Resident Evil sounds like your cup of tea, then you might want to check out this upcoming RPG called Outbreak Island. Judging by its gameplay trailer on Steam, it also reminds me of the roguelike driving title, Pacific Drive.
“In the heart of an abandoned island, among the dark ruins of an extinct volcano, lies a secret that threatens all of humanity,” reads the description of the game developed by Tiny Magicians. “Forcing to survive in a harsh environment, the Island fights back against every inexperienced survivor who dares to venture this far in search of its mind-bending power.
Your goal is to find the Island Core and take control over it.”

Outbreak Island doesn't have a release date at the time of writing, but its Steam page says that it’s “coming soon”.
Be sure to wishlist it on Steam to be notified of any launch details.
