If you’re after a survival title that scratches a Valheim-esque itch, you’re hardly short of options.

Grounded 2, for instance, is a great example with the game having just launched in early access.

It’s the perfect step-up from what came before, and can be enjoyed by new and old fans alike.

In fact, in our review, I rated it a very respectable nine, but there’s another survival title that’s caught my eye.

Granted, I haven’t sampled this one as I have Grounded 2, but that hasn’t prevented Blind Descent from garnering a place on my wishlist.

Developed by Pokuch and set to be published by META Publishing, Blind Descent is an other-worldly survival title that includes some frenetic FPS action for good measure.

Set “deep beneath the Martian surface”, players will be dropped into a vast open-world where it’s their duty to uncover the fate of a missing crew.

“What was supposed to be a routine expedition has become a fight for human survival,” the synopsis reads.

“As exploration begins, the subterranean world reveals itself as a living, reactive ecosystem. It is no longer just a mission, it’s a transformation, a challenge to integrate and thrive in a world where survival hinges on your ability to learn, adapt, and symbiotise.”

It goes without saying that survival will entail you building a shelter, gathering vital resources, and crafting tools, but you can utilise mutation-enhanced abilities to make those tasks a tad easier.

You’ll certainly need to power-up if you’re to successfully fend off the hazardous life forms you’ll encounter.

Blind Descent is due to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2026, although you can sample it a tad earlier on Steam.

A playtest is currently live and underway; to get involved, you just need to head to the game’s Steam page, request access and await acceptance.

The playtest build reportedly lasts for two to five hours, so there’s plenty of content here to give you an idea of what Blind Descent has to offer,

Enjoy what you play? I’m sure the devs would appreciate a wishlist.
