If you’re a fan of Alan Wake and Firewatch, then you might want to check out this upcoming and promising horror game.
Developed by Remedy Entertainment, when the long-awaited Alan Wake was first released on the Xbox 360 in 2010, it instantly became one of my favourite games of that generation.
A creative and talented writer, Alan Wake, suffers from a severe writer's block, so with his wife, Alice, at his side, he retreats to the small, quiet town of Bright Falls, Washington D.C.
However, this vacation was far from the break that he and his wife needed, and it soon became apparent that supernatural shenanigans are afoot in this eerie town. I’m being vague on purpose because if you’ve never played Alan Wake, then you need to check out the remastered version ASAP!

Then we have Firewatch, a charming indie game, released in 2016 and developed by Campo Santo. I’m going to be vague about this game too, because if you’ve never played it, you really should.
“Firewatch is a single-player first-person mystery set in the Wyoming wilderness, where your only emotional lifeline is the person on the other end of a handheld radio,” reads the short but sweet synopsis.

What is this new horror game that has the vibes of Alan Wake and Firewatch, I hear you ask? The game in question is called Project Songbird, developed and published by the indie studio FRYE Games.
“Take control of Dakota, a career musician who, amidst writer's block, decides to isolate themself in a cabin in the remote Appalachian forest in order to record their next album. Take in this gripping tale, explore the natural environment and haunting dreamscapes, and fight to survive in this short horror experience,” the Alan Wake-inspired synopsis reads.
Judging by the gameplay trailer, it looks like Project Songbird could be a slow-burning horror, soaked in tension and mystery. In a nutshell, those are the ingredients of a good horror tale. Whether the game is as good as it looks remains to be seen.
According to its dedicated Steam page, Project Songbird should take about four to five hours to finish its story. So it won’t overstay its welcome and can easily be completed in one sitting.
“Hurray, we have a date,” exclaimed in the comments section of its release date trailer on YouTube.
“I will be buying this DAY ONE! I’m so excited for this,” declared Zeusypoo.
Project Songbird will be released on 27 March 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
