For those who want to unwind during the winter break, this new free demo on Steam might be a good shout.

Free demos for various new and upcoming games often drop on Steam for players to check out. If you’re a gamer on a budget, it can mean trying something out before you decide whether you want to buy or not.

This is especially the case for this time of year when budgets might be tight and you just want to unwind with a short, free experience.

Train Goes Right is an upcoming cosy physics-based railroad simulator slated for release in early 2026.

The goal is simple, you’re building a train track one section at a time, and you must chop trees, transport materials, and drive trains to achieve this.

“Step into the mid-19th century and take on the role of a railway pioneer in Train Goes Right, a casual yet immersive co-op adventure where the train never stops—unless you do,” reads the blurb on Train Goes Right.

“In this charming low-poly world, you’ll build an endless railway, one rail at a time, while operating a faithfully simplified steam train.

The primary controls of the locomotive are represented, giving you just the right level of interaction to keep the train moving forward without overwhelming complexity.

“Whether you prefer to play alone or team up with friends, Train Goes Right offers both local and online co-op so you can lay rail at your own pace. Don’t like trains? That’s fine too—we left you a handcart in the corner.”

Train Goes Right Has A Demo Available Now On Steam

If you’d like to get your hands on it ahead of release, you can now download a demo for Train Goes Right on Steam.

According to Train Goes Right’s developer, Molecular Cohesion, the demo “focuses on the fundamentals of building the railroad,” while the full version will “expand the world, introduce locomotives, and enrich the experience along the way.”

It features track building, where you need to collect materials, drag ties, ballast, and rails into place, and assemble them one section at a time.

The demo also includes a small island sandbox with which to do this, which will be expanded upon in the full game.

There’s no set release date yet for Train Goes Right on Steam, but Molecular Cohesion says it’s coming in “Q1 2026”, which isn’t too long a wait.
